Are we cultured enough, what is cultured by the way ? Through out my stay at Chennai, I have always been told people in Chennai are more cultured in comparission to any other place in India. Is wearing jasmine and bindi determine our culture. Does having culture make you more superior or may be inferior. The thoughts are racing out, too many questions and too few answers that could be considered as answers of the present generation.
The culture is what differentiates us from the animals. It is the cultureless animals that enter it to life or death duels and incur great loss to its lives and other animal lives. Though, we have seen some amazing moments of animals showing culture oriented approach towards life, they are cases of exception. So does that mean showing love to each other make you more cultured, the answer would be a big no and a small yes. This is a starting process of the culture was assimilated in humans. The Homo sapiens are alive over neandrethals, only for this reason. That humans were able to blend it to much different environment and adjust with several humans to face the tough conditions that forced them to live. The base of culture lays in our understanding of each other.
Let me jump from the pre historic times to the medival times when culture was completely misunderstood for religion. Being religious was to be called as being cultured. This has passed on to the present culture, where this assumption is still valid. In the medival times, the non religion people were clearly considered as those who defined to break the routines that they were following for a long time. Thus the breakage of culture, which never defined as human culture.
The present as it is the culture is still considerably more of the blind routines that I follow in temples, churches, mosque and so other devotional place. The world is growing at such a alarming rate, ravaging through the vast dense forests thereby harming what I believe the culture of the flora and fauna. The globalization has led to an epic scale disaster of culture. My parents would very much oppose my marriage to another sect of humans as they call, I believe the opposite of their thoughts. If in future, I did marry a girl from another sect, it would mean I would fight so hard to preserve my culture of my family and not as in forget my culture. The so called, same sect marriage would make us more careless then ever thus neglecting our culture.
The culture is definitely the most complex thing ever encountered. Not much real though has been given to this, thus allowing people to assume as desired. The office that I work in, is definitely a perfect example for these kind of antics. When a girl or a boy would wear a ethnic wear, there is lot of culture upholding being talked over. So are we living a lie by not being cultured every day of our life except on the ethnic days.
The culture is not decided by color of dress we wear, rituals of being religious or the other absurd habits of human beings. The cultured are the people who are humane to the existence of other human beings. The culture has become emulsion with religion, we the youth would need to tell the world – its not. Culture is that phenomenon of intelligence that has been carried over and over, so the humans can co-exist with each other.
