Productivity at an upcoming startup

Productivity is definitely an important parameters for any organisation. Whether big or small, the productivity would be a measure of the companies success or failure. Productivity is usually lower incase of bigger companies compared to smaller ones.

An upcoming startup that I like to define, was trying to measure the productivity in the startup. The quantity of work is definitely low compared to our regular jobs. But the productivity is not about quantity. Its all about quality with consideration to iota of time. The startup culture is so happazard, no rules defined and no deadlines. Thus there is no measure of productivity.

I have been domain scrapper sitting on lot of domains, waiting to produce some amazing things. That has been largely halted by the fact that I have a regular job to attend. Though the labour laws of india, mandate only 8 hours of work but its usually not the case by indian MNCs. The enthusiasm for doing something different from the rest will keep me uninterested about the day job. So the productivity is only during weekends and late night coding period. The weekends are the unwinding hours where you would need to rest and stop thinking about anything mildly related to coding or even computers. Thus the productivity is at its minimum. The late night hours of weekdays are usually so tiring that the bed would be much better option then sitting in front of your laptop.

Usually I carry around a book to note, some nitty bitty ideas that arise with every passing moment. To ensure this becomes a reality, I need to have time or the ability to get it done by someone.

Time is really running out with respect to building a startup or an enterprise as you know the age is such a limiting factor. I will stop complaining about indians having to marry and all the shit. Let me put a month of effort towards this upcoming startup, hope it turns out well. Productivity will rule the day, if you are productive in your work – the light will always be at the end of tunnel.
